Web Scraper – Free AI-Based Data Extractor Chrome Extension
Last updated: February 25, 2026
Introduction
LLC "Effective solutions for eCommerce" (hereinafter "We", "Us", or "Our") respects each individual's right to personal privacy. This Privacy Policy applies solely to the Chrome Extension "Web Scraper – Free AI-Based Data Extractor" (hereinafter "the Extension"). By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
Part I. How the Extension Works
The Extension is a local data extraction tool that operates primarily within your browser. Its core functionality — configuring scraping rules, navigating web pages, extracting data, and exporting results — is performed entirely on your device without transmitting your data to our servers.
1.1 Permissions Used
The Extension requests the following browser permissions, each strictly necessary for its functionality:
activeTab— to access the content (DOM) of the web page you are currently viewing, only when you actively initiate a scraping task.scripting— to inject a content script into the active tab for data extraction when you start a task.storage— to save your project configurations, field definitions, and user preferences locally within your browser usingchrome.storage.local.tabs— to navigate between pages during a multi-page crawling session that you initiate and control.host_permissions (<all_urls>)— required because the Extension must be able to operate on any website you choose to extract data from. The Extension does not run automatically on any website; it activates only upon your explicit command.
1.2 No Background Tracking
The Extension does not:
- Track, monitor, or record your general browsing history or activity.
- Run any code on web pages you visit unless you explicitly initiate a scraping task.
- Inject advertisements, tracking pixels, or analytics scripts.
- Collect or transmit any telemetry, analytics, or usage statistics.
Part II. Information Storage
All data handled by the Extension is stored locally on your device using the Chrome browser's chrome.storage.local API. This includes:
| Data Type | Purpose | Storage Location |
|---|---|---|
| Project Configurations | Your scraping templates, field definitions, XPath selectors, URL lists, and other settings. | Local (your browser) |
| AI Provider Settings | If you choose to use the AI-assisted configuration feature, your API key, selected provider, model name, and base URL are stored for convenience. | Local (your browser) |
| Application Preferences | UI settings and feature toggles. | Local (your browser) |
| Cloud Account Credentials (optional) | If you voluntarily register for the optional Cloud Catalog feature, your authentication token and basic profile information (email, display name). | Local (your browser) |
We do not have access to your locally stored data. It never leaves your browser unless you explicitly export it (e.g., downloading a CSV file) or voluntarily use the optional Cloud features.
Extracted (Scraped) Data
The data you extract from websites using the Extension is processed and stored exclusively in your browser's memory during the active session. It is never automatically uploaded to any server. You may export this data to local files (CSV, JSON, XML, Excel) via the download function. Once you close the Extension or clear the data, it is removed from memory.
Part III. Third-Party AI Services (Optional)
The Extension offers an optional AI-assisted configuration feature that helps generate scraping selectors. If you choose to use this feature:
- You provide your own API key for a third-party AI provider (e.g., OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, or any OpenAI-compatible service). We do not provide, manage, or have access to your API key.
- When you activate the AI feature, a cleaned excerpt of the current page's HTML (with scripts, styles, and metadata removed) is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you configured. This data does not pass through our servers.
- The AI provider's response (containing suggested XPath selectors or field configurations) is received directly by your browser and applied to your project.
Your relationship with the AI provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms of service. We are not responsible for how third-party AI providers process the data you send to them. We strongly recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any AI service you use:
- OpenAI: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
- Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- DeepSeek: https://www.deepseek.com/privacy
Part IV. Optional Cloud Catalog Feature
The Extension includes an optional Cloud Catalog feature that is disabled by default. When voluntarily enabled and used, it allows you to:
- Register an account using your email address and a password.
- Upload scraping project configurations (not your extracted data) to a shared catalog.
- Browse and import publicly shared configurations created by other users.
4.1 Data Collected for Cloud Features
If — and only if — you voluntarily register for and use the Cloud features, the following data is transmitted to our server (mydataprovider.com):
- Email address — for account creation and authentication.
- Display name — for attribution in the public catalog.
- Project configurations — scraping templates you choose to upload (field definitions, selectors, project names). These do not contain your extracted data.
- Authentication token — stored locally in your browser for session management.
4.2 Data NOT Collected
Even when Cloud features are enabled, we do not collect or have access to:
- Your extracted (scraped) data.
- Your AI provider API keys.
- Your browsing history.
- Any personal information beyond what you voluntarily provide during registration.
- IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or device identifiers for tracking purposes.
4.3 Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through the Cloud features, please contact us immediately.
Part V. User Responsibilities and Limitation of Liability
5.1 Data Ownership and Legal Compliance
The Extension is a tool. You (the user) are solely responsible for:
- The data you choose to extract using the Extension.
- Ensuring your use complies with the Terms of Service of any targeted website.
- Compliance with all applicable data protection laws, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and any other relevant legislation in your jurisdiction.
- Obtaining any necessary consents or authorizations before extracting data that may contain personal information of third parties.
LLC "Effective solutions for eCommerce" does not monitor, control, or review the content you scrape. We bear no liability for any copyright infringement, unauthorized data collection, violation of website terms of service, or any other misuse performed by users.
5.2 AI Accuracy Disclaimer
The AI-assisted configuration feature is provided on an "AS IS" basis. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated configurations. AI outputs are suggestions that should be reviewed and validated by the user before use.
5.3 No Warranty
THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE EXTENSION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
Part VI. Data Security
We implement the following measures to protect your data:
- Local-first architecture: The vast majority of data processing occurs exclusively within your browser and never leaves your device.
- No unnecessary data collection: We follow the principle of data minimization — we do not collect any data that is not strictly necessary for the requested functionality.
- Secure communication: All optional Cloud feature communications use HTTPS encryption.
- API key security: Your AI provider API keys are stored only in your browser's local storage and are transmitted only to the AI provider endpoint you configure, never to our servers.
Part VII. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access and portability: Your project configurations are stored locally and can be exported as JSON files at any time.
- Deletion: You can delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the Extension or clearing its storage via your browser settings. For Cloud account data, contact us at the email below to request deletion.
- Opt-out: Cloud features are disabled by default. You can use the Extension fully without ever creating an account or transmitting any data to our servers.

Part IX. Changes to This Policy
LLC "Effective solutions for eCommerce" reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the modified policy.
For significant changes that materially affect your rights or the way we handle your data, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (e.g., through the Extension's update notes or our website).
